Nintendo Switch news: Only 5 games are confirmed to come with the hybrid console upon launch
The curtains finally have been drawn back for the Nintendo Switch during Nintendo's specially hosted event for its newest console. So far, the hybrid gaming device has drawn interest in the gaming community but a lingering doubt regarding the gadget's content continues to persist.
So far, only five titles have been confirmed to be available for the Nintendo Switch when it launches on March 3. The initial list, which includes "1-2 Switch," "Just Dance 2017," "The Legend of Zelda: Breath of Wild," "Skylanders: Imaginators" and "Super Bomberman" is tipped to grow with six more games expected to comprise the second batch of content to come. "Arms," "Has-Been Heroes," "I Am Setsuna," "Mario Kart 8 Deluxe," "Puyo Puyo Tetris," as well as "Snipperclips, Cut It Out Together" round up the forthcoming slew of titles.
Despite this, some potential buyers may still not be fully sold on the idea of picking up the Switch especially when Nintendo has built a bad rap for themselves in terms of relationships with third-party developers, But Nintendo of America President, Reggie Fils-Aime, is confident that they will be able to deliver ample amount of content enough to satiate owners' gaming cravings. In fact, in an exclusive sit-down with USA Today, he reveals that over 50 developers have already partnered up with them for the hybrid device and 80 games already under development.
Nevertheless, it also does not miss them to push their own intellectual properties alongside their upcoming hardware. "Our thought process is across all of our IP — there'll be certain executions that will be for the Nintendo Switch, there'll be different executions on mobile, different executions for Nintendo 3DS. The core is (driving) more awareness, more engagement, more love for the particular franchise," Fils-Aime explained.
Another indication that Nintendo is serious about delivering in terms of content for the Switch is the execution of a subscription service in which gamers who would opt to sign up will receive a new batch of games every month. This offer also allows for multiplayer game connectivity making it possible to communicate with friends The only caveat to this, however, is that once a game's availability finishes, players would not be able to access the title anymore.
Preorders of the Nintendo Switch have already started for the $299.99 priced Nintendo Console. However, for those who are still contemplating if the new device is worth spending money on Fils-Aime is confident that their supply of the console is enough to meet the market's demands.
"Our commitment is we want every consumer who wants a Nintendo Switch to be able to buy one. I am not successful if I am frustrating consumers with them not being able to buy our product," he stated.
