Will a third man be coming into Jane's life to make her life a tad more complicated when "Jane the Virgin" season 3 returns on air?

In the second season of the series, Jane (Gina Rodriguez) finally chose Michael Cordero (Brett Dier) over her baby daddy Rafael Solano (Justin Baldoni). Their love triangle lent the craziness factor to the show, and although Jane and Michael tied the knot towards the end of season 2, there's still a glimmer of hope left for Jane and Rafael shippers.

That's because someone disguising as his cop partner shot Michael, so while they did say "I do," the two were not able to consummate their marriage. In fact, although Dier has been around at table reads, there's no confirmation as to how his role will be played out. For all the fans know, he could be playing a ghost in the upcoming season.

However, in an interview with Huffington Post, Baldoni said season 3 is going to be crazier.

"All I can tell you is that it's going to be crazy! Season three is going to be crazier than season two, which was crazier than season one...so get ready!" Baldoni teased.

Perhaps Baldoni was referring to the addition of a new male character, Sam, who is said to be Jane's childhood crush.

According to TV Line, "Young and the Restless" star Miles Gaston Villanueva has been tapped to play Sam's role, a man who's been in Jane's life even before she met Michael and Rafael. The publication described the character as "intellectual and sexy."

Will he be a threat to the two men in Jane's life – her husband and her baby daddy? That remains to be seen, but it looks like "Jane the Virgin" season 3 is gearing up to be a season full of surprising twists and minor clichés. There are also reports saying Jane will be having in-law troubles in season 3, so that's another arc worth watching out for.

"Jane the Virgin" season 3 premiere episode will air on Monday, Oct. 17, at 9 p.m. on The CW.
