'NCIS: Los Angeles' season 8 spoilers news: Series showrunner teases on pivotal transition in Kensi's life?

CBS
Kensi would apparently face a life-altering condition when "NCIS: Los Angeles" season 8 returns.

Fans of CBS' top-rating police procedural drama "NCIS: Los Angeles" should hold on to their seats when the show returns for its eighth season. There are hints that Kensi Blye will be facing a major turning point in her life. Could this pivotal twist affect her relationship with Deeks, which purportedly is headed to the next level?

Production for season 8 of "NCIS: Los Angeles" is currently underway, and showrunner John Peter Kousakis recently shared something on Twitter that seemed to tease of a possible major change in Kensi's (Daniella Ruah) life or character. Kousaki's caption included the word "condition," which may be construed to be medical in nature. Check out the post below:

Now, fans are assuming that Kensi and Deek's (Eric Christian Olsen) baby might be introduced in the upcoming season, considering the writers are giving the Deek-Kensi angle a huge arc in season 8. In an interview, executive producer Scott Gemmill said a "proper engagement" would be part of season 8.

"We have an idea for how to do that that I want to play out. I already know how we're going to do it. It's just, the fans have waited long enough that we want it to be worth the wait," he told TV Guide. He also added that kids could be added to the Deeks-Kensi equation "once they are officially engaged."

On the other hand, the life-altering condition may have something to do with the fact that Ruah is expecting a baby this fall and would have to go on maternity leave soon. She and Olsen have actually shot a few extra scenes to cover her leave.

Fans would recall that when Ruah gave birth to her first child, the season 5 storyline had Kensi heading to Afghanistan for a mission. In an interview with Entertainment Tonight last June, Ruah talked about her pregnancy but discreetly avoided giving away anything regarding her season 8 storyline. Check out the video below, which was posted on ET's YouTube channel.

"I sort of gave [the producers] the news as we finished the season because it really is difficult to plan around something like this," she explained. "They all just had a smile on their faces, [saying], 'We got this. Don't worry about it.'"

"NCIS: Los Angeles: season 8 will premiere on Sunday, Oct. 2, at 8 p.m. EDT on CBS.
