'Sister Wives' season 8 news, updates: Reality TV show canceled because of family's issues?
"Sister Wives" wrapped up its seventh season last month, and now, there are rumors that it might not be coming back for an eighth installment. It appears that TLC, the network that airs the reality TV show, has axed it due to Kody Brown's issues.
"Sister Wives" revolves around the lives of the members of a polygamist, Kody, and his four wives and children. Only his marriage to first wife Meri was legal. However, there are talks that Kody is planning to dump his four wives so he could take in wives number five and six.
According to reports, the producers of the show are still discussing the reality show's fate with the network since the network has not renewed it yet. The recently concluded season is deemed the most chaotic of all given that the Brown family was shaken to its core by numerous controversies.
Meri's catfishing scandal earned the brunt of the controversies that marred the good things that happened during the season – an engagement, a wedding, and a birth. Even if the scandal broke out in season 6, its impact could be felt throughout season 7, especially when one of Meri's children said during the "Tell All" season ender that she tried to warn her mother against the online affair.
However, more than the scandal, it seems "Sister Wives" hasn't been renewed for season 8 because of Kody's desire to look for two new wives. Kendra Pollard, Robyn's (wife number four) friend, dropped the names of the women Kody is targeting. Apparently, Kody wants to wed Amber, a family friend, and Mindy Jessop, Robyn's step-niece.
"Kody doesn't want to keep dealing with his current wives. They haven't been supportive of him, so Kody has planned the ultimate revenge," Pollard told Hollywood Life.
"The Browns have mingled with Amber on and off over the years. Robyn's not sure, and I'm not sure, if this is a legit love or for TV purposes. It's freaky, and Kody swore that he would never do this. Kody's on the wife topic again. I just refuse to go there... I am so frustrated," she continued.
It looks like Kody's issues, as well as lack of new and interesting storylines for the show, are making it hard for the network to decide on the reality series' fate.
