'Devious Maids' season 5 air date, news: Did one of show's main stars confirm series' renewal?
Will there be "Devious Maids" season 5? That question hogs the minds of the show's avid viewers. Up to now, Lifetime still hasn't given word about the show's renewal, so fans are worried they may have seen the last of the series.
It will be recalled that the fourth season of the series ended in a cliffhanger, with Marisol Suarez (Ana Ortiz) missing on the day of her wedding to Peter Hudson (James Denton). All her friends found were bloodstained shards of broken window glass. Now the big question mark is who kidnapped Marisol?
There are speculations that Genevieve Delatour (Susan Lucci), who is emotionally unstable, abducted Marisol because she can't live with the fact that her former boyfriend is marrying Marisol. On the other hand, the kidnapper could be Jesse (Nathan Owens), Marisol's ex-lover.
What is certain is that should "Devious Maids" season 5 be given the green light, it will focus on Marisol's kidnapping among other things, as confirmed by executive producer Sabrina Wind in an interview with TV Line.
Clamor for the show's fifth season is too strong, with fans trending #PleaseRenewDeviousMaidsForSeason5 on Twitter in the past days. Dania Ramirez, who plays Rosie Falta on the series, likewise took to Twitter to allay fans' worries. However, some construed Ramirez' tweet to mean that there will be "Devious Maids" season 5, as vague as it seemed. Check out the tweet below:
There have been speculations that the poor ratings of the show's fourth season will spell the series' doom, but fans are hopeful that Lifetime will give it another lease on life. Some are even speculating that the show's renewal will be announced around the same time season 4 was announced last year. The announcement for "Devious Maids" season 4 was done Sept. 26, 2015.
Meanwhile, the show's executive producer, Brian Tanen, spoke to Entertainment Weekly early last month where he said they have met with Lifetime's representatives. Apparently, things are looking up for the series, as well as its future beyond season 4. Still, an official announcement is yet to be made by Lifetime concerning the show's fate.
