Despite news of the show's cancellation, fans of "Grimm" are eagerly awaiting the events that will mark its sixth and final season.

According to reports, "Grimm" season 6 will see supernaturally-gifted homicide detective Nick Burkhardt (David Giuntoli) doing everything he can to save his ladylove Adalind (Claire Coffee) from Captain Sean Renard (Sasha Roiz). That means Nick will be resorting to dark power that could potentially hard him just to ensure the safety of Adalind and her children.

Fans will recall that Adalind chose to stay captive in order to keep Nick safe. However, with her and her kids' lives on the line, Nick will try everything to protect her, including going up against a dark Renard. Perhaps Nick will try to use the power of the magic stick, the history of which, according to showrunner David Greenwalt, will be explored in the upcoming season.

Meanwhile, fans of the series didn't take the news of its cancellation kindly even though they did see it coming. From a high of 22 episodes that the past five seasons of "Grimm" enjoyed, season 6's episode orders dropped to 13. A report by Cinema Blend says NBC decided to cut down the series because of the continuous dip in its ratings.

Some fans took to petition sites to launch #SaveGrimm campaigns all over the Internet. One petition is calling out to NBC to reconsider the fate of the show. Otherwise, the group called Grimmster Family is imploring TNT to pick up the show. As of Sept. 13, there are already 7,892 supporters of the petition, 8,000 being its goal. Here is part of what the group said on the petition page:

"Grimm fans want at least a season 7. We are petitioning NBC to reconsider their decision or another network such as TNT, to pick it up. Grimm is a unique show with a huge range of stories yet to tell. We love the characters and the story lines keep us on the edge of our seats. It's a Friday night staple."

Another petition was started on Change.org with it urging Netflix to adopt "Grimm" season 7. That particular petition now has 5,639 supporters, with 7,500 being the goal. It was started by a certain Rebekka Hay from Germany, who had this to say:

"The majority of the fans feel that the story cannot end yet. There is so much more potential and that it would be a wasted opportunity. Many fans feared this was coming, as NBC changed the weekly air date to the infamous Friday night death slot."

It remains to be seen how NBC will react to these petitions started by fans of the show.

"Grimm" season 6 is expected to premiere on NBC on Jan. 6, 2017. In the meantime, keep coming back for more updates about the series.
