'Sleepy Hollow' season 4 release date, news: Fourth season returns to FOX in January
"Sleepy Hollow" will be returning to FOX in January 2017. The network recently made the announcement about the upcoming fourth season, in which fans will be seeing the series without the female lead character Abbie Mills, who was portrayed by actress Nicole Beharie.
On the official Twitter page of "Sleepy Hollow," fans were told that the show will be back after the holidays. The tweet read, "Get ready, Sleepyheads! #SleepyHollow returns with an all-new season January 6."
Reports said that the TV show will feature fresh content. Aside from Beharie's departure from the show, the upcoming season will be set in a new location. Although Ichabod Crane (Tom Mison) lost his partner Mills in the previous season, he is going to find himself a new team to hunt down evil supernatural entities. Furthermore, Mison's Crane will be taking his hunt to Washington.
The well-loved supernatural hunter will be getting a new female partner soon. The upcoming season will introduce a new character named Diana Thomas, who will be portrayed by Janina Gavankar. Thomas, just like Crane, recently lost her partner in the service, and it seems like both characters will find comfort in each other in season 4. Following Abbie's death, Crane will take his supernatural hunting endeavors up a notch.
As previously reported, a whole new set of characters will be introduced next season. Aside from Gavankar, Crane will meet Jake Wells (Jerry MacKinnon) and Alex Norwood (Rachel Melvin) on his trip to Washington. The team will be part of a secret organization that is based in the Capitol.
MacKinnon's character will portray an expert on supernatural events. He is in charge of the archives of the secret organization. Meanwhile, Melvin's Norwood will portray a brilliant engineer.
Watch out for more updates on the fourth season of "Sleepy Hollow."
